Abstract
Energy is the power which is integrated over time and also made life status of current society. Indeed, the world is in serious close fatal of approaching an energy famine within four decades due to non-serious activities for nature care. Major economic and social changes, among other factors, had been always dependent on availability of required quantity and quality of energy. Because of the fast depletion of the fossil fuel, scarcity for water/resources and the fear of global warming/ climate change accelerate the search for new non-conventional energy. Energy sources other than thermal (fossil fuel), hydel and nuclear (fission) fall in the category of non-conventional sources. With its vast natural resources, long coastal line, large desert area and topical climate, India is the forefront in tapping these energy sources. Ocean power (wave, tide, OTEC) biogas/bio-power, bio-fuel, solar cell power, wind energy, biomass energy from rural and urban areas (anaerobic digestion), CBM, geothermal energy, incineration, hydrogen fuel cells, salinity power, and eco-tech based are considered to be the main non-conventional energy alternatives. In addition, non-conventional, mini/micro hydro power generation system are now available commercially and they are penetrating the energy market. Different forms of energy in suitable mixes became simultaneously available providing better option. More than ever before, we need to understand and integrated discussion between the energy and sustainable approach in way of environmental constraints.
