habitat loss, resulting from air pollution.
The growing human population is
encroaching upon my habitat, which is
loose sandy soil and heathlands. I also
like shallow water areas with warm and
sometimes brackish water. These have
also reduced now. To top it all, pollution
and acid rain are spoiling the water
areas where I live.

My family is protected under the VU
Wildlife and Countryside Act. We have
also been put on the Berne Convention RN
and the European Union Habitats
Directive. The Christchurch Council LC
recently ran a successful project of

Marsh Local Nature Reserve.
All I ask for now is that the efforts
be continued or else all will be lost.
