I am a small tree and I live in various African Blast from
countries. The wood from my trunk is one of the past
the most sought after in the world. My name is
African blackwood, and locals call me mpingo. The African blackwood

Mpingo’s home

I live in deciduous
woodlands and
savannahs in dry rocky
areas with poor soil.
I have yellowish grey
bark, beneath which
there is a sturdy reddish
to brownish black core
called African ebony or
poyi. I have numerous
small branches, which
are spiny, and my trunk
is a little crooked.
