Renala: mother of the forest

Renala is the name locals have given me I am a strange-looking but
fascinating tree and I live
out of respect. I have a huge trunk covered in Madagascar. I am named
after the French botanist and
with smooth bark that can be up to three explorer Alfred Grandidier.
I am Grandidier’s baobab.

and one in Africa. African
folklore says that after
creation, each animal was
given a tree to plant and the
hyena planted the baobab
upside down!
