ENDANGERED
Fire-belly
I’ve got an orange-coloured belly. When tTohleivsewinormd-otaisitleadrenaesw. t prefers
I am scared of being eaten, I coil myself
up and shut my eyes. When predators
see my colourful belly, they know that
I am poisonous. If they touch me, I
produce a poisonous substance, so
they leave me alone.
I am in danger
My home is becoming smaller Land development is causing
by the day because of land newt species to die out.
development and deforestation.
There are roads being built in my
area, which divide my home into
small portions. Many from my
family have died crossing these
roads, being run over by cars or
ending up in a ditch with no
water. Also, I am in high
demand in the
pet trade.
Help save me!
I am on the International Union for Conservation of CR
Nature list and on Japan’s Red List of Threatened
Amphibians. At the moment, nothing is being done
to protect me. Management and research plans
are being made but I feel I really
need some help right now.
