In 1968, a major programme was EN
introduced to help us. Artificial VU
nesting sites were provided so
that we could reproduce safely.
Hawks were prevented from
killing our young-ones and we
were provided with food and
protection. The government has
tracked us using radio technology.
When we are in trouble or unwell,
we are taken to laboratories where
we rest and recover.
Blast from
the past
Hurricane Hugo, which struck
the northeast coast of Puerto Rico
in September 1989, decreased the
population of the Puerto Rican
Amazon from forty-seven to
twenty-two!
