Hail storms
Hail is precipitation in the form of balls or irregular lumps of ice, called hailstones,
produced in a thundercloud. When the ice becomes too heavy, it falls down from the
thundercloud. A hail storm may last for only ten minutes, but it can destroy crops
worth millions of dollars. Planes caught in hailstorms have been forced to crash land.
