WORLD’S WORST 10-11
Combating climate change
At the world stage, an international agreement on
combating global warming, known as the Kyoto
Protocol, has been signed. It aims at reducing the
emission of dangerous greenhouse gases to prevent
human-induced climate change. A scientific body
called the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
(IPCC) serves as a source of reliable information about
climate change, its impacts, and ways to mitigate and
reduce the impacts.
Conservation of natural resources such as
water and changes in lifestyle like using
eco-friendly cars and energy-efficient
products can slow down climate change.
The use of alternative
sources of energy can
reduce the amount
of greenhouse gases
being released into
the atmosphere.

China avoided losses of about
twelve billion dollars by
spending 3.15 billion dollars
on flood control measures
from 1960 to 2000.
